About High Ground Media
Beginning in 2017 with only a simple Facebook page, what began as ‘STL Shooting Enthusiasts’ was a well-researched list of local USPSA, IDPA, Tactical 2/3-Gun, and other unique shooting sport events throughout the Missouri and Illinois region. This approach expanded to bring in well-researched drills to improve the individual, unbiased and observational-based gear reviews, and commentary. The idea being to grow community, and build the relationships of like-minded individuals around a sense of comradery.
By 2022, despite its growth and amid growing anti-2A and anti-speech pressures from Facebook, STL Shooting Enthusiasts was eventually de-platformed along with many others, and had to be rebuilt as ‘High Ground Media’. But in 2023, Facebook again removed the HGM page before going after me directly not once, but twice. From there the choice was made to further expand into Twitter as the more permissible platform. The intent remains the same; to bring like-minded pro-2A enthusiasts together either through competitions, highlight trusted vendors, unbiased reviews, insightful editorials, and build the local/regional 2A community. Today, High Ground Media and all its data/content reside on an independent web site that allows for an RSS feed and more dynamic content. The HGM website, and its content are free for access, and nothing is held behind a paywall.

About Me
With a nod to internet privacy, and as the Owner and Content Creator to High Ground Media, my name is Brian and I am an Army combat veteran (1998-2006). I served in the military for eight years throughout the world to include duty stations in; Georgia (twice), Korea, Texas, and Arizona. After my (all be it short) life in the military, I continued to work for the Department of Defense much the same as I did while enlisted, but in 2018 began taking up competitive shooting in USPSA. In total, I have served three tours in Iraq, and four in Afghanistan, for a total of over three years combined overseas service. It has been an honor to serve alongside some of the greatest units in our armed forces – and those men and women whom have worn, or wear, the uniform will continue to have my respect. I look to grow in this area of my personal life while working towards the more comprehensive “tactical athlete” mindset while espousing the trifecta of mind, might, fight. Since COVID-19, while I have not participated in many matches (due to life balance) post-quarantine, I am continually exploring new ways to bring informative content to readers.
