In February of 2022, T3 Gear released its new line of laminate nylon products to include a new laser cut T3 Utility Pouch. This pouch brings together some of the market’s newest, lightweight nylon materials, with the precision of machine-laser cut designs.
Made from the same laser cut (LC) laminate nylon as the new T3 Geronimo LC Plate Carrier, the 7” (L) x 5.5” (H) x 2.5” (D) Utility Pouch is designed to hold mission-essential items within close reach. The pouch also provides a secure and weight efficient pouch, with minimal cross section when empty. It also uses TEX 70 bonded nylon thread throughout to ensure all stress points maintain their durability. On the front exterior, the Utility Pouch has an full-length accessory pouch secured by a 7” zipper with a chord-pull tab.
On the bottom a single grommet to provide drainage.
The back of the Utility Pouch uses laser-cut squadron back mounts that occupy four rows of MOLLE webbing.
The interior of the Utility Pouch is accessed via a three-sided, 14” zipper that grants maximum access.
The Utility Pouch is available in Multicam (featured), Coyote, Ranger Green, and Multicam Black.

- Cost – Excellent (5/5): With an MSRP of $35.99, the LC Utility Pouch incorporates the latest technology in laminate nylon that is both stronger and lighter than traditional fabrics. Thus the Utility Pouch enables the end-user to store smaller accessories, batteries, hand tools, and other items within immediate reach. In contrast, the E&E Horizontal/Vertical Pouch ($41.99) from Grey Ghost Gear, the Small Utility Pouch ($50.95) from Blue Force Gear, or the Medium Utility Pouch ($44.90) from Direct Action Gear illustrate that for its size and materials the T3 Gear LC Utility Pouch is at an excellent price amid the market, and for its materials and design.
- Comfort – Good (4/5): From a comfort aspect, the focus of the Utility Pouch was something that was good in its overall light weight for the material so as not to be unbalancing, while still providing a place for storage of secondary items. With its unstructured profile, the Utility Pouch did compress slightly when empty and not obstruct range of motion, nor get in the way of weapon manipulations or stressor drills. The zipper, while not outwardly a YKK-branded one, still functioned smoothly and did not bend nor cross-feed. The zipper enclosure line opened along three sides of the pouch, and allowed for even those with larger hands maximum access to the contents and full reach of the interior.
- Durability – Excellent (5/5): The durability of laminate nylon as one of the latest fabrics puts it as a fabric with an abrasion rating often at/above 1000D and greater than many other more traditional nylons. As such, the Utility Pouch handled the friction of rifle slings, magazines, and dynamic movements without any indication of fraying or compromised threading. Extensive bartack and double-line stitching was noted along the zipper line and key stress points to add reinforcement to the overall pouch. The corners of the pouch’s design were rounded and prevented gouging or abrasion against any exposed skin.
- Functionality – Good (4/5): Functionally, the Utility Pouch did a good job of serving in a straightforward role as a medium general utility pouch, with a reasonably low profile that retained smaller yet bulkier items well. There was no internal divider or elastic cuffs to organize contents so it was basically an all-or-nothing pouch. The three-sided zipper across the top did a good job of securing things, while granting full access to the interior when needed. As such, the Utility Pouch was good for multi-tools, tape, ammo or magazines, batteries or other items as needed. It should be noted here that the attachment system was similar to other T3 products whereby the MOLLE compatible material was secured by tucking the band back under the final loop and this gave the overall pouch a very sturdy attachment to the plate carrier and/or belt.
- Weight – Average (3/5): Weighing in at 4.2 ounces, the Utility Pouch owes most of its light weight to the use of the new laminate nylon material that is substantially thinner than traditional nylons. This made the Utility Pouch neither bulky nor unbalancing while mounted on a plate carrier and/or pouch. In comparison, the E&E Horizontal/Vertical Pouch (4.9 ounces) from Grey Ghost Gear, the Small Utility Pouch (4.23 ounces) from Blue Force Gear, or the Medium Utility Pouch (3.59 ounces) from Direct Action Gear illustrate that for its materials and design the T3 Gear LC Utility Pouch is of an appropriate (or average) weight amid the market and its competitors.
